This medication is a combination of two medicines: Furosemide and Spironolactone.

It is extensively used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure and oedema

Furosemide : It is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time, it also relaxes blood vessels, but causes potassium loss.

Spironolactone: It is also a diuretic which conserves potassium, thereby restoring the potassium balance in the body.

INDICATIONS:

Hypertension.

Oedema.

Congestive heart failure.

Renal diseases.

Liver diseases.

Glaucoma.

Raised intracranial pressure.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

Furosemide and Spironolactone flushes out sodium and water from the body. They work by making your kidneys release more sodium into the urine. The sodium then takes water with it from your blood, decreasing the amount of fluid flowing through the blood vessels thereby lowering the blood pressure.

DOSAGE:

1-4 Tablets daily, based on the severity of the disease.

Maximum Dose:

Spironolactone-200 mg

Furosemide- 600 mg/day in severe medical cases.
