PURIFLUX 100/300 is a medicine used to treat and prevent gout. Gout happens when there is too much uric acid in your body, and it forms crystals that can appear around your joints and kidneys and cause pain. This medicine helps to keep uric acid levels low.

INDICATIONS :

Prevents gout attacks by lowering uric acid levels in the blood

Reduces the formation of uric acid kidney stones
Helps shrink tophi (uric acid crystal deposits under the skin).

MECHANISM OF ACTION : Allopurinol and its active metabolite inhibit xanthine oxidase, the enzyme that converts hypoxanthine to xanthine and xanthine to uric acid. Inhibition of this enzyme is responsible for the effects of allopurinol. This drug increases the reutilization of hypoxanthine and xanthine for nucleotide and nucleic acid synthesis by a process that involves the enzyme hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase
