Oxcarbazepine 150/300/450/600 mg Tablets

AUXTOL (Oxcarbazepine) is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. This medication is generally used to treat mental conditions like epilepsy.

INDICATIONS:
Epilepsy/Seizures.

Acute or mixed Mania

Can be used as a mood stabiliser in Bipolar disorder (off label)

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

AUXTOL (Oxcarbazepine) is an antiepileptic medication. It controls seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

It does so by blocking voltage-sensitive sodium channels, thus leading to the stabilisation of hyper-excited neural membranes, suppression of repetitive neuronal firing and diminishment propagation of synaptic impulses.

DOSAGE:

150 mg orally twice daily.

The daily dose can be increased to 600-1200 mg/day based on the tolerance and condition of the patient.
