Description:
CALIPS 667 (Calcium Acetate Tablets USP) is a phosphate-binding agent used to control high blood phosphate levels, especially in patients with chronic kidney disease.
Indications:
? Hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic renal failure
? Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients on dialysis
Mechanism of Action:
Calcium Acetate binds dietary phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract to form insoluble calcium phosphate, which is excreted in the feces. This reduces serum phosphate levels and helps prevent bone disorders associated with CKD.
Dosage:
The usual starting dose is 2 tablets (667 mg each) with each meal or as directed by the physician.
Dosage should be adjusted based on serum phosphate levels.
