Ondansetron belongs to a class of medications called serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It
is used to prevent nausea and vomiting that may be caused by surgery, cancer chemotherapy, or radiation treatment.
INDICATIONS:
Postoperative Nausea & Vomiting
Radiation-Induced Nausea & Vomiting
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
It works by blocking the action of serotonin. (a natural substance that may cause nausea and vomiting). It does so by inhibiting the binding of serotonin with 5HT3 receptors present in the brain and small intestine.

DOSAGE:
The dose range varies from 8 – 24 mg ( 30min – 2 hours before the therapy), based on the condition of the patient, or as directed by the physician.
