KYRIFAX (Rifaximin) belongs to a class of medications called antibiotics.

This medication is generally used to treat Hepatic encephalopathy

(A decline in brain function that occurs as a result of severe liver disease. In this condition,the liver can’t adequately remove toxins from the blood. This causes a buildup of toxins in the bloodstream, which can lead to brain damage.)

INDICATIONS:

Hepatic encephalopathy

Irritable bowel syndrome

Traveller’s diarrhoea

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

KYRIFAX (Rifaximin) is an antibiotic. In hepatic encephalopathy, it works by killing the ammonia-producing bacteria thereby relieving symptoms such as agitation, confusion, and muscle problems. In infectious diarrhoea, it works by stopping the growth of bacteria that cause diarrhoea.

DOSAGE:

1 Tablet Twice a day or as directed by the physician.
