KYSTATIN

Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets (10/20/40)mg

KYSTATIN (Atorvastatin) belongs to a class of drugs known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors or “statins.” It is used along with a proper diet to help lower “bad” cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise “good” cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver.

INDICATIONS:

Hyperlipidemia

Dyslipidemia (Abnormally high or low lipoprotein concentrations)

Hypertriglyceridemia (Elevated levels of triglycerides in body)

Hypercholesterolemia (Presence of high cholesterol levels in plasma)

Heart attack

Stroke

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

HMG-COA reductase is an enzyme that plays a key role in the biosynthesis of cholesterol in the body. KYSTATIN acts by blocking the action of enzyme HMG-COA reductase, thereby decreasing the production of cholesterol in the liver.

DOSAGE:

The dose range varies from 10 – 80 mg per day, based on the condition of the patient.
