LEVOMIPS 500 Tablet is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

Levofloxacin 500mg is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that works by interfering with bacterial DNA processes. It inhibits two key enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for DNA replication, repair, and transcription. By blocking these enzymes, levofloxacin prevents bacteria from multiplying and repairing themselves. This leads to bacterial cell death and helps eliminate the infection. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
