MESLACARE (Mesalamine) belongs to a class of drugs known as anti-inflammatory agents.

INDICATIONS:

This medication is generally used in the treatment of – Ulcerative colitis.

It also helps to reduce symptoms associated with Ulcerative colitis such as diarrhoea, bleeding and stomach pain by reducing inflammation in the bowel.

MECHANISM OF ACTION:

Mesalamine may work by blocking the activity of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, thereby, reducing the production of prostaglandins. Reduced production of prostaglandins decreases inflammation in the colon and the symptoms associated with ulcerative colitis.

DOSAGE:

1 Tablet once a day or as directed by the physician.
