MECHANISM OF ACTION : Pantoprazole 40 mg is a proton pump inhibitor that works by irreversibly blocking the H?/K?-ATPase (proton pump) enzyme in the parietal cells of the stomach. This action suppresses the final step of gastric acid production, leading to a marked reduction in stomach acid secretion. By decreasing acid levels, it promotes healing of acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and erosive esophagitis. The effect lasts longer than its presence in the bloodstream because new proton pumps must be synthesized before acid secretion can fully resume
