RIFAPEACE 400

Rifaximin 400 mg tablet is a prescription medicine used for traveller’s diarrhoea, hepatic encephalopathy, and diarrhoea in irritable bowel syndrome. Its active ingredient is rifaximin, which is an antibiotic. This medicine works by inhibiting the protein synthesis of bacteria and killing them.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea (IBS-D) in adults.

Reduction in risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) recurrence in adults.

Treatment of travelers’ diarrhoea (TD) caused by noninvasive strains of Escherichia coli in adults and paediatric patients 12 years of age and older.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

It works by killing the ammonia-producing bacteria in the digestive tract. This treats your infection and relieves symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy (agitation, confusion, muscle problems). This also helps reduce the recurrence of episodes of hepatic encephalopathy.
